About the set

About OP17 The World's Strongest Warriors

The World's Strongest Warriors is booster 17 and the game's 4th-anniversary set. It's all about the Four Emperors and the crew that came before them: the Rocks Pirates. Newgate, Shanks, Kaido and Big Mom each get a Leader. So does Rocks D. Xebec. And Luffy leads in his Elbaph outfit.

This is the set that brought the Super Alt Art. Newgate, Shanks, Kaido and Big Mom each get one, with real manga panels over the whole card. Luffy OP17-079 is the first Super Leader Alt Art. For the anniversary there's a Pirate Crew Alt Art pair: Xebec OP17-118 with the Rocks Pirates, and Luffy EB04-061 with the Straw Hats. And there's the first Treasure Rare, a young Newgate OP17-040.

The rest of the Straw Hats show up in Elbaph gear, and Loki, the giant from Elbaph, is a Secret Rare too. Keisuke Itagaki, the artist behind Baki, drew a Kaido that looks like nothing else in the set. OP17 came out in Japan on 22 August 2026 and in English on 28 August.

FAQ

OP17 questions

When did OP17 come out?

In Japan on 22 August 2026, in English on 28 August 2026. The English pre-release was on 21 August.

What is the most expensive OP17 card?

The Monkey.D.Luffy Pirate Crew Alt Art, EB04-061, pulled from OP17 packs. Around €14,238 raw on Collectr (market price, 17 October 2026). The priciest card with an OP17 number is its partner, the Xebec Pirate Crew Alt Art OP17-118, at around €5,428.

Are there manga rares in OP17?

Yes, four. Bandai calls them Super Alt Arts: Edward.Newgate OP17-005, Shanks OP17-022, Kaido OP17-062 and Charlotte Linlin OP17-112. Real manga panels cover the whole card.

What is the Treasure Rare in OP17?

A new rarity, first seen in OP17. Each language gets its own, so the card depends on where your box comes from. English boxes have Edward.Newgate OP17-040, as a young Rocks Pirate. Japanese boxes have Lucky Roux OP17-033, French boxes Charlotte Katakuri.

Why is there an EB04 card in OP17?

It's the anniversary pair. For the game's 4th birthday, Bandai put two Pirate Crew Alt Arts in OP17: Rocks.D.Xebec OP17-118 with the Rocks Pirates, and Monkey.D.Luffy EB04-061 with the Straw Hats. Luffy keeps his old EB04 number, but you pull him from OP17 packs.

Why are there cards from other sets in OP17 packs?

Those are the SPs. OP17 reprints ten older cards in a new look. Four are "New Four Emperors" SPs: Luffy ST31-004, Shanks OP13-028, Buggy P-084 and Teach ST27-005. Six are Haki SPs, in black ink with red lightning: Garp OP12-056, Oden ST32-002, Rayleigh OP14-108, Roger P-107, Yamato OP16-098 and Zoro EB04-007. They keep their old numbers.

How many cards are in an OP17 pack?

12 in an English pack, 6 in a Japanese one. Both boxes hold 24 packs. Same cards in the set, the Japanese packs are just smaller, so a Japanese box also gives you fewer hits.

What are the odds of pulling a Super Alt Art?

Bandai doesn't publish pull rates, so every number online comes from people counting their own boxes. Those counts land around 7 Super Rares per English box and a Secret Rare every two or three boxes. A Super Alt Art is far rarer than that: most cases don't have one. Want one card? Buy the single. Want to rip packs? Do it for the fun.

What are the Pandaman cards in OP17?

A hidden extra, new in OP17. A few ordinary cards also come in a version with Pandaman drawn into the art. He's a running gag in the manga, always hiding in the background. Fun to find, but they don't sell for much. And a Pandaman can take the spot of a bigger hit in your box.

Are there special DON!! cards in OP17?

Yes. Next to the normal DON!! cards there are special ones: gold DON!! cards, a blue one for the Rocks Pirates and a diamond one. Bandai said on its reveal stream that the blue one is just as rare as the gold. It's only blue because of Rocks. Expect to open a lot of boxes before you see one.

My box had one Alt Art and a Pandaman. Is that normal?

Sadly, yes. Lots of collectors got boxes like that. OP17 doesn't spread the hits as evenly as older sets did, so one box can hold a single hit and the next one four. And a Pandaman can sit in a hit slot. Your box isn't broken, it's just a quiet one.

Why is OP17 so expensive?

Because everyone wants it. It's the 4th-anniversary set, with the Four Emperors, the first Super Alt Arts and the Pirate Crew pair. In a lot of shops the pre-orders were gone fast, so boxes sold well above the normal price. Bandai's own price is $4.99 a pack in the US. Want to play? Singles are cheaper than packs.

When can I play OP17 cards in tournaments?

From the pre-release on 21 August 2026, at your local game store. That's Bandai's own rule for the English set.
